Efficient, Innovative Collection

Veolia Environmental Services offers a full range of containerization services, allowing us to calculate the optimal number of containers to install, manage container maintenance, wash waste recycling bank chutes and so on.

After separation during source segregation, waste is routed to appropriate treatment channels for recovery or recycling.

Our solutions employ a fleet of innovative, eco-friendly vehicles and IT tools that optimize collection routes and traceability. Veolia Environmental Services has designed a new hybrid waste collection vehicle, for example.

Veolia Environmental Services also offers onboard computer systems in vehicles, providing public authorities with collection services tracking data.

Actions to reduce and avoid greenhouse gas emissions are being implemented throughout our activities. In the collection and transportation activities, this results in the following actions:

• Rationalise collection operations and improve fuel efficiency.
• Use alternative fuels (biodiesel, bioethanol...)
  1,512,000 liters of biodiesel (pure biodiesel) have been consumed by collection trucks, allowing emission reductions of 4,070 tonnes CO₂eq.
• Develop alternative means of transportation (rail and waterway transport...)
  12.9 million tonnes of non-hazardous waste have been transferred, of which 1.5 million tonnes by rail or waterway.
• Implement driver training programs.
