At our transit station in the port of Gennevilliers on the outskirts of Paris,, Veolia Environmental Servicesconsolidates and compacts waste before placing it in hermetically sealed containers. The waste is then shipped by barge to a port located near the Claye-Souilly landfill. This system reduces road traffic and allows waste to be transported in bulk shipments, offering road safety, energy consumption and air and noise pollution benefits. Currently, the two barges are replacing the round trips of 25 trucks transporting 500 metric tons a day of waste.
