The sludge is dissolved by the mechanical and thermal action of preheated crude oil injected into the container and the recovered oil and gas are recycled. ET2C has specific rotary-head injectors that do not require modifying installations because they can be installed on the container's roof. The ET2C process is also completely safe to operate as the container is insulated from the air and inerted using nitrogen.

A remote-controlled washing gun is used inside the container. Video transmissions monitor the execution and quality of the cleaning.
