SYMOVE, the waste authority for the west of the Oise department of northern France, has awarded Veolia Environmental Services, the contract to finance, build and operate its recovery center for household and assimilated waste in the town of Villers-Saint-Sépulcre, near Beauvais. The new site is scheduled to come into service in March 2014.

The Angers Loire metropolitan area has awarded Veolia Environmental Services, via its GEVAL subsidiary, the management of its new "Biopôle" waste recovery center. The Biopôle comprises a mechanical biological treatment facility with a maximum composting and anaerobic digestion capacity of 90,000 metric tons a year.

Faced with the difficulties caused by agricultural spreading that uses sludge from water treatment plants, Veolia Environnement R&D came up with the idea of developing a method of wet oxidation. It involves an original approach that produces resources for manufacturing earthenware tiles: wet oxidation produces a fine-granule mineral by-product that can be reused by the ceramics industry.
